Rafik Roshdi Ghattas was born to the union of the late Roshdy Habib Ghattas and Isis Sabry Botros on November 12, 1948. Rafik accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in his homeland, Cairo, Egypt. He came to the United States in 1971.
Rafik was preceded in death by his loving parents, Roshdy Habib Ghattas and Isis Sabry Botros, his sister, Renee Sahmi, and brother-in-law, Ramses Toma.
Rafik leaves to cherish his life in memories, his devoted wife of 40 years, Elisa Ghattas, his four children, Heidi Gaitan (Ricco Gaitan), Hedda Ghattas, Glenn Cattles Jr., and Norman Cattles, all of the New Orleans area; one sister, Rosette Rita Toma of California; one uncle, Samir Sabry of Egypt, one brother-in-law, Mike Sahmi of Florida, nine grandchildren, Glenn Cattles, Jr. Marica Maria Cattles, Christian Reid, Julian Cattles, Norman Cattles, Jr. Niyah Reid, Alex Gaitan, Alexis Gaitan, Shawn Porrovecchio Jr. and an extensive core of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff and employees of West Jefferson Medical Center, Floral Arrangement and Ambrose Gardens for their kindness and compassion.
Relatives, friends and employees of Gulf Marine are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 9 AM to 11 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park.
