Ralph “Teddy” J. Lacoste, Sr., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 25, 2024. He was born in New Orleans, LA on March 23, 1945, and grew up in Harvey, LA. He resided in Gretna and Terrytown, LA. He worked all his life to provide for his family which was always his number one priority. He began his career as a welder at Avondale Shipyards, Inc., opened his own company, “Teddy’s Welding Works” and then went on to work with Superior Energy until the company moved to Texas. Ralph was a loving man with a huge heart who always gave of himself tirelessly. He enjoyed wearing cowboy boots, watching NASCAR races and the New Orleans Saints.
He is survived by his third wife, Bertha “Nina” Zaharan Neff Lacoste, his late second wife, Marvell “Loviey” Dehon Lacoste, and first wife, Jacqueline Bladsacker Lacoste Seiler. Loving father of Denise M. Lacoste (Earl), Ralph J. Lacoste, Jr. (Veronica), Lovie Lacoste Damby (Matt), and Cheri Lacoste Babin (Eric). Step-father of Jason Larousse (Christy), and the late Gerald Larousse (Denise). Grandfather to Cory Lacoste, Mia, Marley and Reece Damby, Bryce and Zoe Babin, Jason Breaux, Jordan, Josh, Jeremy and Dustin Larousse, and the late Taylor Mars. Additionally, he leaves behind eight great-grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is survived by his loving sisters, Janet L. Richard (the late Clarence) and Barbara Schmitt (the late George). He is preceded in death by his parents, Octave P. Lacoste and Geraldine Navarre Lacoste Bullock.
In lieu of flowers, Masses offered in Raph’s name or Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://act.alz.org/donate. The family would like to thank the staff at “The Suites at Algiers Point” for the care of Ralph along with Passages Hospice for their exceptional comfort care provided. Ralph will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by anyone whoever had the pleasure of meeting him, as he was a blessing to all.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 4401 7th Street, Marrero, LA on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 9 AM to 11 AM. A Memorial Mass will follow. Interment will be held at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Avenue in Gretna.
