Raymond N. Hughes, Sr.

Raymond Hughes, Sr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2015. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 14, 1926 to the late James Hughes, Sr. and Lillian Menotte Hughes. Beloved husband of 69 years to the late Lanis Hunter Hughes. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had an enormous impact on many lives and will be deeply missed. Raymond is survived by his sister, Theresa Rodriguez; his daughter, Lana Rae Agaisse (John); his son, Raymond Hughes, Jr. (Minette); his grandchildren, Shellie Brandstetter, Larae Stifflemire, Shanna Townsley, Hope Timothy, Gerald Breland, Jr., Megan Agaisse and 8 great grandchildren. Raymond will also be missed by his son-in-law, Gerald Breland. Raymond was preceded in death by his two daughters, Brenda Hughes Breland and Lillian Hughes Cochran. Brother of the late James Jr., Alvin, Charles, Floyd and Ervin. He was born in Algiers, LA, resided in Belle Chasse for over 60 years and recently a resident of Covington, LA. He was a retired employee of Crescent Towing and Salvage. Raymond was a Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Navy. A visitation will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 10AM until 1:30PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1:30PM. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
