Raymond E. Molaison, age 84 was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of August 30, 2022. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Karen Bird Molaison. He is also survived by his three children, Raymond Jr., Ryan and Libby Ortiz (Juan), as well as eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander Harry Molaison and Nora Molaison. He is also preceded in death by his brother Merrill (Late Rogene) and his sister Mary.
He graduated from Behrman High School in 1955 and received a Bachelor of Mathematics from LSUNO in 1970.
Ray began his career with South Central Bell in 1970. While at Bell, he played the clarinet and the saxophone in the band “Tip, Ring and Sleeve”. The band performed at Pioneer functions. The Pioneers were Bell’s charity group. Ray retired as a Manager from BellSouth’s Property and Services Management Department in 2000.
He served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years as a Sea-Bee, retiring as a chief Petty Officer.
Ray loved his family and the Sea-Bees. Anytime a family member or friend needed help with a home project, Ray always offered his time and expertise. So many families and friends were recipients of his generous nature and warm heart.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, from 10:30am until 12pm at Mothe Funeral Home, 1300 Vallette St. Algiers, La. The service will begin at 12pm and interment will follow at St, Mary’s Cemetery in Algiers, La.
