Raymond E. Reid

Raymond Earl Reid was born July 14, 1928 in Menomonie, WI and passed away on September 16, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS after a brief illness. He was in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War and was a proud member of the Seafarers’ International Union of North America, A.F. of L.-Atlantic and Gulf District. He was a lifelong Democrat. He was a resident of Gretna, LA for over 30 years and resided in Waveland, MS since 1988.
Father of Joyce Daigle Folse and Sheila Daigle Sabolyk Matthews. Grandfather of Sherry Sabolyk Landry Schultz, Robert Joseph Folse Jr. and Michael Robert Folse. Great-grandfather of Jacob John Kindscher V, Julia Folse, Blake Folse and Brooke Folse. Brother of Mary Reid Olson of Menomonie, WI and Ruthann Reid Appleby Diaz of Riverside, CA and the late Donald Reid, Doris Reid Johnson, Francis Reid, James Reid and Lavern Reid Hood. Husband of the late Lena Aucoin Reid and the late Jewell Christine Sampson Reid.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Saturday, 21, 2013 at 11 AM. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6 PM to 9 PM, resuming on Saturday from 8 AM to 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Assoc. ( www.heart.org ).
