Richard John "Bubber" Purcell

Richard John "Bubber" Purcell of Westwego, LA passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 10:00 PM in River Ridge, LA. He was born on November 20, 1923 in New Orleans, LA. Mr. Purcell was a WWII veteran (Navy Seabees - South Pacific Theater) and was retired from Avondale Shipyards.
He was predeceased by both parents, Richard Charles Purcell and Alma Lillian Schmidt; 2 brothers, Richard Purcell, Jr. and Christian Joseph "C.J." Purcell; 3 sisters, Mary Ellen Purcell, Sanomar Estelle and Sanomar Cora Mary Purcell Haydel; a daughter Patricia Ann Purcell and two stepsons Raymond Earl Brewer and Larry Gene Brewer.
He is survived by his wife Joy Marie Tate Brewer Purcell; two daughters, Charlene Clothielde Purcell Hopton (L.R. “Dick”), Gina Caron Purcell Mays (Bobby), a son Richard Kevin Purcell (Theresa) and a brother Leo Paul Purcell. He is also survived by a stepson Rodney Coy Brewer and two stepdaughters Cathy Marie Brewer (John Kaltsukis) and Pamela Earlene Julian (Michael) along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice & Palliative Care and Carpenter House for their care and support.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 9 AM to 11 AM. Services will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Hope Mausoleum, New Orleans, LA.
