Rita Claire Gruntz Abbott passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Granville Edward Abbott. Mother of Claire Lynne Abbott, Charles H. Abbott, Gwen A. Woody (David), Gary E. Abbott (Lori), and Elizabeth Guidry (Roy). Grandmother of Danielle (Clint), Desmond, and Devin Woody, Amanda Moore (Robert), Emily Abbott, Kirk Abbott, and Aaron Guidry. Great-grandmother of Jesse, Reyna, Joshua, and Hailey. Daughter of the late Alphonse A. Gruntz and Rosa Lillian Hunn Gruntz. Sister of Emelda Charlet (late Harold), Althea Heitmeier (late Lloyd), and the late Rose Marie O'Dowd (late George), Camille Hebert (late Joseph), Anna Mae Robicheaux (late Roland), and Alphonse J. Gruntz (late Barbara). Also survived by numerous family and friends. Age 83 years, a native of Algiers, and resident of Terrytown, LA. Member of American Legion Post #218 Ladies Auxiliary and AARP of Algiers. Resident of Riverbend Nursing Home for the past five years.
