Robert Lee Basom III

Robert Lee Basom III, 79, of Gretna, peacefully passed on the morning of Sunday, November 5, 2023. 

Bob was born in Seattle, WA and would go on to graduate from Seattle University. He then joined the U.S. Coast Guard, where he became a helicopter pilot, ultimately bringing him to New Orleans in 1970. He earned a Masters in Human Resources and after the Coast Guard worked in management with Stewart Enterprise. He eventually found a new passion as an educator at John Ehret High School, becoming head of the special education department. While teaching, he earned his second Masters in Education. 

Bob will be lovingly remembered by wife, Sharon; children, Rob(Jen) and Keri(Brian); grandchildren, Macie, Breanne, Cullen, Elise and Corinne; sisters, Carolyn(Chris), Katie(David), Mary(Jeff), and brother Jeff. 

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Bob and Mary Lou; sister, Annie.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation which will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 9:30a.m. at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero 70072. Followed by a Prayer Service at 11:00a.m. in the chapel.
