Robert Bird

Robert A. “Bobby” Bird, Jr. left this world peacefully on July 10, 2011 at the age of 83. He was born and raised in the Irish Channel. He was preceded in death by his parents Ida Dugas Bird and Robert A. Bird, Sr. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Norma Cecile Bird. Mr. Bird served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and retired from Rheem Manufacturing Company after 38 years of service. He was a resident of Terrytown for the past 47 years. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 57 years, Earnestine Dominguez Bird. Earnestine was the love of his life and his constant companion and caregiver. He is also survived by his three adoring daughters Karen Bird Molaison (Ray), Robin Bird Talamo (Terry) and Kim Bird Schaefer (Mike). He leaves behind 2 grandsons, Terrill Joseph Talamo (Shanna) and Trey James Talamo; two granddaughters, Shannon Schaefer Mumm and Ashlyn Marie Schaefer as well as his great-grandson, Parker Joseph Talamo. He is survived by a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Concerned Home Health and Hospice and River Region Hospice House for their kindness and support. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at Christ the King Church, 517 Deerfield Rd., Terrytown, LA on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 12:30 PM with a funeral mass at 2:30 PM.
