Robert Leo Cappiello

March 31, 1937 — September 15, 2015

Robert L. “Bobby” Cappiello, also known as “Pop” went home to be with the Lord on September 15, 2015, at the age of 78. Bobby was a native of Port Sulphur, La. and a resident of Belle Chasse, La. for the past ten years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janes Despaux Cappiello, his parents Louis R. Cappiello and Bernice Hingle Cappiello his brothers, Charles E. Cappiello (Cordelia Purgley Cappiello), Ralph Louis Cappiello and brother-in-law Norman Despaux. He is survived by his loving daughters, Vicky Marie Cappiello (Glenn Ballay) & Raye Ann Cappiello-Usey (Kirk) and his only surviving brother, James L. Cappiello (Paula), sister-in-law, Peggy Fontenot Cappiello and Margaret Despaux. He is also survived by his loving companion Shirley Becnel. He adored and loved his grandchildren, Haley Peterson, Cody Peterson (Michelle), Alley Lavergne, Tanner Usey & Jennifer Portie (Cody) along with his great-grandchildren Chloe, Emma, Bentlei, Mason & Landry. He held a special place in his heart for Eddie, Robin (Gregg), Dawn, Stephen (Robin) and Mark (Beth) and their children.
Bobby retired from Freeport McMoRan after thirty five years of service. After retiring from Freeport, he worked for Plaquemines Parish Port Authority for five years. He was a life member of the Port Sulphur Volunteer Fire Dept., member of the Plaquemines Parish Orange Fair & Festival and reigned as the 1982 Orange King. His passion was farming various citrus and pecan trees. Bobby loved the outdoors and could always be found riding his tractor through his citrus and pecan groves. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. The Family invites relatives and friends of the family, also staff of East Jefferson Hospital to join in celebrating his life. Visitation will be Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Mothe’s Funeral Homes, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA. 70058, from 8:00am-10:30am. Visitation will continue at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hwy 23, Port Sulphur, LA. 70083 from 12pm-1pm. Following visitation Mass will be held at St. Patrick with interment at St. Patrick mausoleum. Our family would like to thank all physicians, nurses, and staff at East Jefferson Hospital for their kindness, care, and dedication. In lieu of flowers please consider donations in his name to La. Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, LSU Foundation Department of Pathology or St. Patrick Catholic Church, Port Sulphur, LA. Bobby's favorite quote...."NOW"!
