Robert "Bob" Ecker, Sr. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy Truesdell Ecker, and son Robert Leroy Ecker, Jr., parents Clinton and Hazel Ecker; brothers James, Maurice and Dean Ecker. Bob is survived by his sister Eileen Voth and his brothers, Dale Ecker (Millie) and Don Ecker (Mary); daughters, Cheryl Slosberg (Michael) of Edgewood, New Mexico, and Teresa Lauga of New Orleans; grandchildren Frank Rumore, Jr. (LeeAnn), Leesa Rumore and Rose Mary Rumore (Paul); Kathy Vaillancourt (Matt), Karyn Wolf (Richard), Tyler Wildman (Liloni), Kandee Ecker and Craig Conklin (Wendy); great-grandchildren Dylan Rumore, Aubrey Rumore, Nicole Chavez, Hannah Vaillancourt, Mackenzie and Peyton Wolf; Connor and Colby Conklin; niece Becky Geary (Leroy) and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was born in Lost Springs, Kansas on October 11, 1922. He graduated from Marion High School in Marion, Kansas, in 1939. He served in the Army during WWII. He moved to New Orleans with Boeing Aircraft Corporation in 1964. He retired at the age of 70 from Lockheed/Martin. He made his home in New Orleans for 42 years until Katrina. Then moved to Polson, Montana to be near his son. After his wife passed away he moved back to New Orleans to live with his daughter. Bob enjoyed various interests including wood working, keeping his yard in flowers (especially roses), genealogy, amazing photographs and loved to bake. He was a caring father, loving grandfather and great-grandfather. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Passages Hospice.
