Robert L. Goens, Sr. passed away on March 28, 2016. Beloved husband of Patricia Fox Goens for 61 years. Son of the late James C. Goens, Sr. and Mary Taravella Goens. Father of Elizabeth G. Bourgeois (David), Robert Goens, Jr. (Ellen), David Goens (Tamie), Catherine G. Gerrets (Damon), Susan G. Fortier (John), and Stephen Goens (Nancy). Grandfather of Benjamin, Daniel (Liz), Rebecca (Andrew), Jordan (Ashley), Robert III (Brittany), Patrick, Taylor, Amanda (Lance), Adam (Courtney), Jared (Katie), Aaron, Evan, Emily, Gene, Erin, Melissa, Katie, Lauren, and Jennifer. Great-grandfather of Isabel, August, Madeleine, Brody, Arabella, and Brianna. Brother of the late James C. Goens, Jr. and Rita G. Vogt. Also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. Age 82 years and a lifelong resident of Gretna, LA. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflct. He worked in the oil field industry as VP of Operations for Intracoastal Trucklines in Harvey, LA. Robert was also an active member of the Jerusalem Temple Shriners from 1975 to 1993 as a chanter. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 1:30 PM. Visitation will be Monday from 11 AM until 1:30 PM. Interment of cremains will be held at a later date in Hook & Ladder Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
