Robert J. O’Donohue Jr. was born and raised in New Orleans, and was a resident of Harvey, LA for the last 45 years. Robert was trained in sheet metal and layout at Delta Shipyards when he was 16, and the USS Navy trained him in pipefitting. He served as Torpedo Man 3rd Class on the Submarine USS Skate #305 during WWII. His most harrowing experience was taking over 200 depth charges in the Sea of Japan. Robert J. O’Donohue Jr. was called Bob by his friends and Junior by his family. He retired from Avondale Ship yards as foreman in the Sheet Metal Shop in 1979. Our Torpedo Man, Master Sheet Metal Mechanic, and Avid Redfish Fisherman died suddenly on March 11, 2011 at 11:10 AM after a long illness. Son of the late Robert J. O’Donohue Sr. and Viola Hoff-O’Donohue, Beloved Husband of the late Elenore A Gaudet-O’Donohue. Brother of Thomas O’Donohue and Rosemary O’Donohue-Satter. Father of Robert Joseph O’Donohue III, Lenore O’Donohue-Romano, and Leah O’Donohue-DiGerolamo. Father-in-law to Madelyn Morris-O’Donohue and Anthony P. DiGerolamo. Grandfather of Scott P. O’Donohue, Angela DiGerolamo-Callais, Kelli P. O’Donohue Inabnet, and Anthony J. DiGerolamo. Great Grandfather of Mark, Delaney, Christopher, Aidan, Bella, Savannah and Gia. He was much loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
