Robert Earl Sumrall

Visitation for Mr. Robert Earl Sumrall will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 6PM until 10PM and Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 9AM until 2PM at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 2PM with Pastor Michael Carney officiating. Following the Funeral Services, interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Avondale, LA. Robert Earl was born on October 7, 1931 in Foxworth, Mississippi. He is the son of the late John Louis and Urania Sumrall. He passed from this life on March 9, 2014 at the age of 82 in his home amongst his loved ones. Robert Earl served 4 years in the United States Navy with an Honorable Discharge in October of 1952. He retired from AT&T at the age of 55. He also served as Unions President of C.W.A. Local 3490 and 10490 for many years. He was active in the United Way and a devoted member of the V.F.W. He was a resident of Gretna for 52 years. Mr. Sumrall is preceded in death by his father, John Louis and his mother, Urania; brothers, Charles Sumrall and Billy Don Bourne. Surviving relatives include 2 brothers, Mark Sumrall and Billy Sumrall; 3 sisters, Dot Livingston, Carol Ann Burne and Cookie Cannon; his wife of 56 years, Norma Frazier Sumrall; 4 children, Vicki Esquivel, Lori, Barry and Brett Sumrall; 4 Grandchildren, Joshua, Tyler and Dianna Esquivel and Kayla Sumrall. He is also survived by 1 great grandchild, Xavier Sumrall.
