Roland Nicholas Barrios

Roland Nicholas “Rev” Barrios passed from this earth and moved peacefully to heaven on Sunday, January 20, 2013. Beloved husband of Doris Roussel Barrios for 63 years. Father of Susan Barrios Hendry (Doug), Mark G. Barrios (Karen) and Paul G. Barrios (Madaline). Grandfather of Stacy, Kevin, Brianna, and Blake Barrios, and Justin, Jenna and Jacob Gray. Brother of Roy Barrios and the late Stanley Barrios. Son of the late Alida Dufrene Barrios and Elzie Barrios. Mr. Barrios was a veteran of WWII having served in the Fifth Marine Division. Age, 87 yrs. A native of Algiers, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA.
Relatives and friends of the family, also members of VFW Post 3121, American Legion Post 218, Paul E. Boyd Det. 579 Marine Corps League, AARP 3925, Telephone Pioneers-Westbank, and St. Anthony Parish Ministries and Men’s Club are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Anthony Church, Franklin St. at Burmaster St., Gretna, LA on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 11 AM. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Parlors will be open at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 6 PM until 9 PM. Visitation will continue at church Thursday from 9:30 AM until 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, Masses or donations to the World War II Museum preferred. The family wishes to thank in a special way the employees of Woldenburg Nursing Home for their kindness in caring for Mr. Barrios.
