Ronald R. Besson CSM US Army (Retired) passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Barbara Duet Besson. Father of Kathy Besson Owens, and the late Kelli Besson Songy. Step-father of Katherine Brown and Karen Thurman. Son of the late Margaret Forbes Besson and Newman Joseph Besson, Jr. Brother of Joyce Hebert, Kathleen Shipley, Judith Johnson, Gail Oleszkowic, and the late Linda Besson Baudoin, Shirley Besson Margiotta, Renda Leland Besson, Larry Joseph Besson and Newman Joseph Besson III. Grandfather of Roni Griffin, Lloyd G. Songy III, and Blake H. Songy. Great grandfather of Marshall Pierce Griffin, Easton, Madden, Myles, and Leighton Songy. He retired from the US Army as Command Sargeant Major and retired as Manager of Western-Southern Life. He was a Legislative Aide to Senator Pat Connick and a former Aide to Councilmember Lloyd Giardina. He was Past President of the West Jefferson Levee Board, Consultant with the St. Tammany Drainage District 4, Past President of Washington Artillery and a member of the Westbank Musicians Hall of Fame. He was an avid jogger and loved remodeling projects and gardening. He was a native of Algiers and a resident of Marrero, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 1pm.
