Ronald Joseph Jacobs

February 9, 1948 — January 7, 2014

Ronald J. Jacobs passed away on January 7, 2014 at the age of 65 years. Beloved husband of Mary Lucas Jacobs. Father of Sharon Bergeron, Angie Billiot (Ronald), Kenneth Scott, Jr. and the late Tessie Lucas. Grandfather of Kristi, Wayne, Ashley, Jamie and Kaden. Great-grandfather of Alexis, Hannah, Tre’, Alex Jr. and Talon. Brother of the late Beverly Spencer. Son of the late Inez Guillotte Jacobs and Azema Jacobs. Also survived by other loving relatives and friends.
Ronald served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He achieved the rank of Sergeant and earned, among others, his Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and two Overseas Bars. He later served his community as a Reserve Police Officer with the Gretna Police Department. Ronald worked for many years with the City of Gretna Water Department and was an active member of the Vietnam Veterans Association (VVA) Chapter 553 in Gretna, LA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Monday, January 13, 2014 from 6 PM to 10 PM, resuming on Tuesday from 8 AM to 11 AM.
