Ronald Francis "Tiger" Laurent

Ronald Francis “Tiger” Laurent, age 82, a resident of Marrero, LA entered into eternal rest at his residence on Sunday, November 3, 2013. Beloved husband of Marylene Lasserre Laurent for 54 years. Father of Penny Ledet (Danny), Tim Laurent (Gail), Ted Laurent, Jane Blanda (Mark) and Alan Laurent (Cindy). Grandfather of Daniel, Stephanie, Carolynn Ledet, Bonnie and Kevin Laurent, Angelle Laurent, Mark Blanda, Jr., Holly Blanda, Alexis Bateman and Jayson McMillian. Great Grandfather of Gabe and Gehrig Gaines, Madison and Dominic Blanda, Mya Blanda and Brandon Hobbs. Brother of Margery Laurent and Wirely Laurent. Son of the late James and Fernande Webre Laurent. He was known by family and friends as “Tiger”, a name he was given by friends at Holy Cross School as a wrestler, winning three state titles. He served proudly as a United States Marine during the Korean War. He was a member of the Marrero Rod and Gun Hunting Club, a founding member and coach of PARD Playground. He was inducted into the Booster Club Hall of Fame. He retired in 1996 after 40 years employed as a maintenance electrician from Avondale Shipyard. Paw-Paw Tiger adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A visitation will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 6PM until 10PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 9AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11AM. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred.
