Janice Diket passed away peacefully at home at age 94 on July 1, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 17, 1929, in Gretna, Louisiana and subsequently moved to Algiers, where she lived for many years. She is survived by her beloved sister, Anna Gerard; beloved daughter, Jane Colna (Paul); and son, Chris Diket (Maureen). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Capt. Timothy Seidell (Sheila), Jason Diket, Johnathan Diket, and Melissa Murphy (Capt. Brian), as well as her beloved great-grandchildren, Laine Murphy, Jack Seidell, Addison Diket, and Chloe Murphy. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Capt. Leonard Diket; her parents, Alphonse & Anna Aucoin; sister, Rita Mangano; and brother, Claude Aucoin. Janice was a person of faith and an active parishioner of St. Andrew Church. Affectionally known as “Maw Maw” or “Aunt Jenny”, Janice loved her family and friends immensely and they loved her right back tenfold. Saturdays and Sundays were for Church, family dinners and, of course, Saints and LSU football. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Monday, July 8, 2024 beginning 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA. Interment at McDonoghville Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
