Rose Hargis Gonzales

Rose Hargis Gonzales passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023 at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Elwood John Gonzales Jr., PhD. Loving mother of Elwood J. Gonzales III (Casondra), Guy J. Gonzales (Ann), Eric H. Gonzales (Tina), the late Lisa M. Gonzales. Grandmother of Kathleen, Emily, Alyssa, Andrew, Erica, Ryleigh, Angelique, Courtney, Alex and the late Kaitlyn. Sister of the late Joseph Robert “Bob” Hargis. Daughter of the late Rosa Carbo Hargis and Guy J. Hargis. Also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Rose attended Southwest LA. University in Lafayette and taught elementary education for the Jefferson Parish Public School System and the Archdiocese of New Orleans. She was a parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church in Terrytown and a member of CTK Women’s Club and CTK St. Vincent de Paul Society. She is also a recipient of the Order of St. Louis medallion for her dedication and devotion to her church parish.

Visitation will be held at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Monday, May 1, 2023 from 11am to 1:30pm. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park, Gretna, LA.
