Rose Rita Hamm

Rose Rita Hamm, best known as Mama and Maw Maw Rose, entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 17th, 2024 at the age of 86. Beloved partner of the late Melvin Schmidt, Sr. Daughter of late parents Leon and Annie Cortazzo. Beloved and devoted mother of William Hamm, Jr, Janet Hamm (Tommy Turner), Tricia Romano (Robert Romano), Jimmy Hamm (Carmen Hamm), and Sharon Donner (Brian Donner).  Grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of 12 with another on the way. Sister of the late Jimmy Cortazzo (the late Carol Cortazzo), the late Russell J. Cortazzo, Sr (the late Marie Cortazzo), Anna Jean Cortazzo (the late Jim Gaines), Grace Zeigler (David Ziegler - the late Bob Hutson).

She was born and raised in the Irish Channel in New Orleans and graduated from Redemptorist High School. She raised her family in Terrytown, Louisiana.

 Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, Louisiana on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 10AM until 1:30PM.  A Celebration of Rose’s Life will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 1:30PM.   Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, Louisiana.  The family invites you to share thoughts, fond memories and condolences online at www.mothefunerals.com
