Rosebud Leonard Dumesnil, a native New Orleanian, peacefully passed from this life at the age of 93 in the presence of her loving family on November 24, 2021. Rosebud enjoyed a happy life filled with many friends, she was a very social person and enjoyed being with people. Family and friends were as important to her as was her spiritual life. She was a deeply religious person who had a strong faith with a daily routine of saying three rosaries and attending three Masses. Within an hour of her death, she was praying the rosary. While she was blessed with a long healthy life, she peacefully went to eternal sleep after a brief illness. Rosebud is survived by her children, Rose Marie Bourque (spouse Keith Bourque) and Emmette Dumesnil, Jr. (spouse Lynn Casler Dumesnil). Her five grandchildren were Melanie Bourque Hall (spouse Jeremiah Hall), Emmette Dumesnil III (spouse Erin Robeaux) , Cory Dumesnil (spouse Erica Bouquet), Jace Dumesnil (spouse Jean Colombo), and Kimi Dumesnil Munkres (spouse Glenn Scott Munkries). Her great-granchildren are Evan Hall, Emily Hall, Amelia Dumesnil, Zoey Dumesnil, Abby Newell, and Glenn Munkries, Jr. She is also survived by a loving sister-in-law, Anna Mae Leonard. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband Emmette Dumesnil Sr., her parents Sidney Leonard and Cora Keller Leonard, and by her siblings Weiner Paul Leonard, Burton Leonard, Sidney C. Leonard, Edward Leonard, Lawrence “Monk” Leonard, Peter Leonard, Lena Leonard Turlich, Marie Leonard Howard, Coralina Leonard Brossette, and Louis Leonard (infant brother). The family would like to acknowledge with sincere thanks and gratitude the exceptionally kind and loving care that she received by the entire staff and residents at Our Lady of Wisdom Health Care Center, especially Opal and the nursing staff of Section A and her dear friend Sister Jerome Blank. She was pleased and honored to serve as the President of the Residents Council and to reign as the Queen of the last Mardi Gras Ball. She considered everyone at Our Lady of Wisdom to be members of her family. At her request, a private graveside service was held at Westlawn Memorial Park on Monday, November 29, 2021..
