BLANCHARD, Roy Pierre, age 84, of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, died on Friday, May 8, 2015. He was married for 53 years to Margaret Harvey Blanchard, who he cared for through her illnesses until her death in 2007, and they were residents of Port Sulphur, Louisiana, until Hurricane Katrina. He was the son of the late Clifton E. Blanchard, Sr. and Edna Breaux, and was preceded in death by siblings Maud Blanchard Sampey, Clifton E. Blanchard, Jr., Lillian Blanchard Vedros, and Helen Blanchard Songy. Roy, a veteran of the United States Army, was well-known as a master storyteller and jokester, and beloved by small children everywhere. He is survived by his three children: daughter Michelle (Tom) Ardillo of Rockville, Maryland, sons Tommy of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, and John Roy (Myra) of Denham Springs, Louisiana. He was known as “Pops” to his four grandchildren: Margaret and Madeline Ardillo of Rockville, Maryland, and John and Chase Blanchard of Denham Springs, Louisiana. He is also survived by his sister, Hilda Blanchard Pontif of Houma, Louisiana, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many close friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, May 14, 2015, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM and Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Belle Chasse, Louisiana.
