Roy F. Heindel

Roy F. Heindel entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 75 years of age. Beloved husband of Marilyn Tank Heindel for the past 52 years. He was the son of the late Frederick Heindel and Mary Rose Segui Heindel Craft. Father of Patricia Heindel and Michelle Brown (Frank). Grandfather of Larissa Mendez (Mickey) and Cailey Rousseau. Great Grandfather of Mickey and Rolando Mendez. Brother of Gaynell Hoeltke (Noel) and Robert Craft (Paula) of Alabama. Roy was a devoted member of the Terrytown Fifth District Volunteer Fire Department for 45 years and served as Assistant Chief of Terrytown’s Fire Prevention Bureau for 30 years. He also served as Fire Inspector for Harvey Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Life Member of Louisiana State Firemen’s Association. He retired from Sears Oakwood after 36 years of employment. Roy served his country in the Naval Air Reserve for 8 years and was activated during October 1961-August 1962 crisis. His family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of Riverbend Nursing Home, his personal caregivers, Elizabeth Trento and Willie Rigney, the Staff of Harmony Hospice and especially the Terrytown firemen who assisted Roy during his illness. Relatives, friends, employees of Sears and the Terrytown and Harvey Volunteer Fire Departments are invited to attend the visitation at Christ the King Catholic Church, 535 Deerfield Avenue, Terrytown, LA on Monday, November 12, 2012 from 9AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church with on Monday at 11AM with Fr. Michael Nguyen officiating. Interment will be in St. Vincent DePaul Cemetery #3, 1322 Louisa Street, New Orleans, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Terrytown Volunteer Fire Department are preferred.
