Roy Leslie Smith, Sr.

Roy Leslie Smith Sr. passed away on May 31, 2013 at the age of 86 years. Beloved husband of Joyce Hingle Smith. Father of Roy L. Smith, Jr. wife Irene and Joycelyn Marie Raspberry husband Rodney. Grandfather of Scott & Mandy Smith, Stephanie & Larry Galik, Shane & Kristi Smith, Kurt & Shirin Ragas, Chris & Lyndsy Calato and Kim Beathard. Great-grandfather of Ryan, Reagan & Skeet Smith, Tanner & Luke Galik, Sarah, Kyle & Ariana Ragas, Madison, McKenna & Merritt Beathard, Cade & Jax Calato. Brother of the late Marguerite Gerkin, Edna Smith, Joseph and Harold Smith. Son of the late Jennie Wilson Smith and Charles Francis Smith. Roy served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He later retired as a boat skipper with Freeport-McMoran. The family would like to give special thanks to Seasons Hospice and to the staff at Silver Hills Assisted Living who have helped us through these difficult times.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 6 PM to 10 PM, resuming on Thursday from 8 AM to 11 AM.
