Ruby Fernández de Castro

Ruby Fernández de Castro peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the age of 91. She is now reunited with her late husband, William F. de Castro, and other cherished family members. Born in Bayamo, Cuba, Ruby, with faith and courage, sent her children from communist Cuba to the safety of the United States. After the family was reunited, she settled in Gretna, LA, where she lived a full, joyful, and blessed life surrounded by her loving family.

Ruby is survived by her devoted son, Guillermo F. de Castro, and his wife, Brenda, as well as her loving daughter, Rosa D. Andrieu, and her late husband Paul. She leaves behind a legacy through her five grandchildren, Guillermo F. de Castro, III, Alyssa Gaudet, Carlos F. de Castro, Sr., Lauren Andrieu, and Stephen Andrieu. Additionally, she is remembered by her five great-grandchildren, Megan Evans, Jenna Gaudet, Olivia Gaudet, Carlos de Castro Jr., and Kyleigh de Castro.

Ruby is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

A memorial celebration will be held at Christ The King Church, 535 Deerfield Rd, Terrytown, at 9:00 a.m. on November 20, 2023 with mass beginning at 11 a.m.
