Ruth Case Dawson

April 8, 1924 — October 27, 2016

Ruth Case Dawson, age 92 years, passed away on October 27, 2016. She was the former wife of Harry Dawson for 62 years. Ruth was the beloved mother of five children: Nancy Dawson Sinatra, Harry “Skip” Dawson (Pam), Robert Case Dawson, Charles Roe Dawson (Lisa), and Kimberly Dawson McCloskey (Don). She also is survived by her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Genevieve Darrow Case and Robert Willington Case, and her sister Jean Crayton. She has one remaining sister, Sharon Holsombach.
She moved to New Orleans in 1959 from Houston, Texas, with Harry and their children. Ruth embraced New Orleans along with its culture, beauty, people, and the Saints.
Ruth was known for her sense of humor, love of her family, her Christian faith, and love of her friends and all animals. She enjoyed golf, bridge, travelling, and life in general. All who had the pleasure of knowing her will miss her. “Where there is sunshine, there is Ruth.”
A memorial service will be held in her honor at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Algiers on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016, with visitation at 9 a.m. and Holy Mass at 11 a.m. She was cremated at her request.
