Ruth Frey Desplas

Ruth Frey Desplas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the age of 95 years. She was a native of New Orleans and resided in Gretna for the past 65 years. Beloved wife of the late John W. Desplas. Devoted mother of Gaynell Desplas Jackel-Taillon. Mother-in-law of Napoleon F. Taillon, Jr. and the late James J. Jackel, Sr. Preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Frey and Sadie Buras Frey. Sister of the late Harold Frey. Loving grandmother of James J. Jackel, Jr. and Jon J. Jackel. Grandmother-in-law of Kelly Hebert Jackel and Elizabeth Voss Jackel. Great-grandmother of James J. “Trey” Jackel, III, Macy Jackel, Madison Jackel, Cameron Jackel, Amelia Jackel and Matthew Jackel. Step-grandmother of Marty (Terri) Taillon, Dean (Danica) Taillon, Ricky Taillon, Kerry Taillon and Mark (Michelle) Taillon. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, 8 step-great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to express thanks and gratitude to the nurses and staff of Our Lady of Wisdom Nursing and Notre Dame Hospice for their loving care and compassion. You are all very special people and are a Blessing to all of the people that have been placed in your care. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 9 AM to 11 AM.
