Salvador Joseph Divincenti Sr.

Salvador Joseph DiVincenti, Sr. went home on Thursday, October 10, 2013. Beloved husband of Merlee Davis DiVincenti for 68 years. Loving father of Roy James DiVincenti (LindaNel), Darlene Egan, and Salvador J. DiVincenti, Jr. (Sharlene). Brother of Mary Messina and the late Carlo, Tony and Roy DiVincenti. Also survived by 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends. Son of the late Rosa Pagano and Frank C. DiVincenti. Age, 100 years. A native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA for 57 years. Mr. DiVincenti was the original owner of Sal’s Meat Market in Gretna. He was a Deacon at First Baptist Church, Gretna. Sal was proud of his Italian heritage and an active member of the Italian American Society of Jefferson. He was also a 32nd degree Mason, member of William D. White Lodge F&AM and an avid Saints Fan.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Monday, October 14, 2013 from 6 PM until 10 PM. Visitation will resume at First Baptist Church Gretna on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 9 AM until NOON. The Funeral Service will follow at NOON. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association of Louisiana, www.alz.org .
