Samuel Joseph Rodrigue, Sr.

Samuel Joseph Rodrigue Sr. passed away on June 1, 2016 at the age of 79 years. Beloved husband of the late Josephine Loyacano Rodrigue. Father of Debra R. Savoie (the late Ferrell), Jody R. Rotolo (Manuel), Samuel J. Rodrigue Jr. (Sandy) and Cindy R. Weigel (Donald). Brother of Genevieve Mansfield (Milton), Emily Berger (the late Richard), the late Richard and Gloria Rodrigue. Brother-in-law of Jake Loyacano (Lisa). Grandfather of Shaun, Kristen, Mandy, Jennifer, Trey, Sheree, Shane, Carol, Timothy and Brennan. Also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, his canine companion “Queenie” along with other loving relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Hospice Compassus and his caregivers, Gert Bacilet and Carol McGinnis for his care and support. He retired from Avondale Shipyards after over 40 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the “Big 10” Hunting Club.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 9 AM to 1 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gretna for 1:30 PM. Interment Hook and Ladder Cemetery.
