Sheldon Walter Guthrie, Sr., loving husband and father, passed away on January 26, 2015 at the age of 81. Beloved husband and life partner of Vivian Boudreaux Guthrie. Father of Sylvia G. Pearson Chagnard (Vernon), Sheldon W. Guthrie, Jr. (Kim), Keith J. Guthrie (Lisa), and his “Adopted daughter” Rubye Noble Evans (Bob). Born October 1, 1933 to the late George Walter Guthrie, Sr. and Olivia Toups Guthrie. Brother of Ronald, Ralph, and the late George, Jr., Dardin, and Alva Guthrie. Grandfather of James Pearson, Jr., Cheryl Pearson, Justin Guthrie, Brittany Hebert, Ashley Burke, Lauren Guidry, Erin Chagnard, and Sean Chagnard. Great Grandfather of Olivia, Gabrielle, Nicholas, Haylee, Dakota, Logan, Brandon, and another blessing on the way. He was a Veteran U.S. Navy Coxswain of Whale boats USS Bremerton; Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. Resident of Jefferson Parish, retired from Avondale/Bollenger Shipyard, and Past Master William D. White Lodge.
