Shirley Virginia Bertoniere entered into eternal rest on May 19, 2021 at the age of 80. She is survived by her sister Doris Bertoniere Oser and her nieces and nephews Jack Oser III (Janis), Debbie Oser Freiss, Karen Oser Peralta (Phillip), and Dan Oser. Also survived by 10 great nieces and nephews, and 16 great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Daniel E. and Virginia Harvey Bertoniere and her beloved brother-in-law Jack Oser, Jr. Shirley was a lifelong resident of Algiers except for a brief residency in Jackson, Miss. She was a 1958 proud graduate of Behrman High School. She retired from Farm Credit Bank after a long career in their HR department. The family spent many happy Mardi Gras at the bank’s building on St. Charles Avenue. After retirement from the bank, Shirley began a second career and greatly enjoyed many years as church secretary to Trinity Lutheran Church in Algiers Point of which she was a lifelong member. She was devoted to her family and always ready to pass a good time! Shirley loved bowling, fishing with dear friends, singing and dancing to the oldies, and reading mystery novels and tabloid magazines. The family gives special thanks to the dedicated staff of The Suites at Algiers Point for their devotion and tender care of Shirley during the last chapter of her life. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services at Trinity Lutheran Church, corner of Eliza and Olivier Streets, Algiers, LA on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 1 PM. Visitation will be held at church from 11 AM until service time. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
