Steve Warren Cheramie

March 2, 1955 — February 21, 2016

Steve Warren Cheramie entered peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the age of 60. Former husband of the late Teresa Luke Cheramie. Son of the late Wilson P. Cheramie and Ebdonia Billiot Cheramie. Loving father of Faith Marie Cheramie, Brent Paul Cheramie, John Pierre Reno Cheramie (Wife Michelle Ann) and Crystal Gayle Cheramie. Grandfather of Coty Cheramie, Joshua Grabert, Teresa Grabert, John Pierre Luke Cheramie, Trinity Ann Chermaie, Matthew Reno Cheramie and Olivia Michelle Cheramie. Beloved brother of Enola Bei, Catherine Rodrigue, Myra Miller, Keith Cheramie, Wilson Cheramie and the late Sidney Cheramie. Steve is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was born in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Gretna, LA. Steve was currently employed by Semco Construction Company, LLC. He was a graduate of South Western Bible College in Waxahachie, Texas. Steve was past Tribal Chief of the Houmas Indian Nation and a member of several Pastor Fellowships. He was former Pastor of Native Christian Fellowship, Missionary Pastor of Northern Cheyenne in Ashland, Montana and Poarch Creek Indian Reservation in Atmore, Alabama. He was Pastor of Evangelism at Heartland Ministries in Sharpsville, Indiana and was a featured speaker for many Native events as well as Church Conferences. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Wednesday evening, February 24, 2016 from 6PM until 10PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday morning, February 25, 2016 from 9AM until 1PM. Funeral Services will be held at Harvest Time Fellowship Church, 3401 8th Street, Harvey, LA on Thursday at 1:30PM with Rev. Dr. William D. Salsbery officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Park Cemetery, Avondale, LA.
