Taylor Michael Roland, 45, of Westwego passed away surrounded by family and friends Friday, December 13, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in New Orleans and was a 1986 graduate of Grace King High School.
Taylor spent most of his career with Pellerin Milnor Corporation where he worked as an Industrial Engineer Associate and was well-liked and respected by his colleagues.
As a lifelong resident of the New Orleans area, Taylor was a dedicated and passionate New Orleans Saints fan who never missed a game. But his greatest passion was for his family, mostly his beloved wife Wendy Buquet Roland of more than 16 years, who was the light of his life. He was dedicated to his three children, Trenton, Caitlin and Jason Roland, all of whom he loved to tease and dote on.
Taylor was known by all who knew him as someone who gave willingly and was always there for others. Taylor was a deeply sentimental person, who served as the family historian, relishing in old photos and memories, even as he found joy in living in the present. He will be so dearly missed by so many.
Besides his wife and children, Taylor is survived by his sister Lisa Roland Faust, her husband Matthew and their children, Carsten and Roland. He is also survived by his father Ronald Barry Roland and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Jane and Gibson Buquet, who adored Taylor as their own son. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother Shirley Mexic Watsky, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and extended family.
Taylor was preceded in death by his mother Cheryl Watsky Lampert, his paternal grandparents R.B. and Mary Roland, his maternal grandfather Martin Watsky, a maternal uncle Steve Watsky and his sister-in-law Tanya Buquet, who are all rejoicing with him in God’s glory and peace now.
The Roland and Buquet families would like to express their deepest gratitude for the staff at the Hematology/Oncology Clinic of West Jefferson and at the West Jefferson Medical Center Intensive Care Unit for their care and compassion during this difficult time for Taylor and his family.
Taylor’s life will be celebrated during funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at Mothe Funeral Home at 7040 Lapalco Blvd in Marrero.
