Thelma Daunie Ballay

Thelma Daunie Ballay passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the age of 84. She was born October 2, 1926 in Waggaman, LA and resided in Port Sulphur, LA from 1945 to 2005. Beloved wife of the late Louis “Eddie” Ballay, Jr. Daughter of the late Nick Daunie and Elda Aucoin Daunie. Devoted mother of Louis E. Ballay, III (wife Delta Turlich) and Glenn Ballay (Vickie Cappiello). Cherished grandmother of Niki Roig (husband Chad), Brendan Ballay (wife Renee’), Rene’ Chauvin (husband Andy) and Jennifer Portie (husband Cody). Great-grandmother of Chad Roig II, Hunter Roig, Mason Portie and Gavin Chauvin. Step-grandmother of Haley, Cody, Alley and Chloe’. Sister of the late Angelina D. Brauner, Ulin D. Autin, Wilman, Wilson, Nick, Gus and Elmo Daunie. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She was a member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxillary Clyde J. Davenport Post in Port Sulphur. Maw Maw, our sunshine, will be greatly missed by all. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 6PM to 10PM and again on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 from 8AM to 10:30AM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hwy 23, Port Sulphur, LA on Wednesday at noon with interment to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Port Sulphur, LA.
