With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas M. Greco III, known affectionately as "Tommy" to his loved ones and friends. Tommy was born on May 9, 1962, in New Orleans, LA, to his parents Darlene Barracco Greco and Thomas M. Greco.
Throughout his life, Tommy touched the hearts of many with his dedication and kindness. He embarked on a remarkable career at Entergy where he devoted in over 30 years of service. His commitment to his profession was unparalleled, earning him the endearing nickname "Tommy gun" amongst colleagues for his work ethic and steadfast reliability.
Tommy's impact extended beyond the workplace as he possessed a passion for the outdoors and a talent for crafting with his hands. His family will forever hold dear memories of his love for nature and his ability to create beauty from scratch.
One unforgettable moment that epitomizes Tommy's heroism occurred during a hurricane when he selflessly rescued a woman whose car had become stranded in a ditch. His bravery did not go unnoticed as Entergy honored him with a plaque in recognition of his valor.
In his personal life, Tommy was a devoted father and grandfather. He exuded generosity and would always lend a helping hand without hesitation. He leaves behind cherished memories and lessons in love and perseverance.
Thomas M. Greco III peacefully departed on April 24, 2024, at Touro Hospital in New Orleans, LA, after bravely facing medical challenges. Although he will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on through his family and all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Tommy is survived by his three children: Kayla Greco Petrolia, Misty Greco (fiancée Brad Felty), Brandon Greco (wife Sydnee Greco), along with their mother Nancy J. Greco. He also leaves behind five adoring grandchildren: Liam and Bryce Petrolia, Logan, Landen, and Lane Greco.
In addition to his immediate family, Tommy is survived by his three sisters: Gwen Caperton (Bill Caperton), Tammy Mangum (Paul Mangum), Janelle McSweeney (Gary McSweeney), and numerous nieces and nephews who will continue to honor his memory.
A visitation will be held at Marrero - Mothe Funeral Homes, LLC on May 4, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Mass at the same location from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM as we gather to celebrate Tommy's remarkable life and legacy.
May he rest in peace knowing that he was cherished by many and left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
