Thomas Joseph Poole passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2024, at the age of 92. He was born in Algiers, LA, on January 21, 1932 to Marguerite Euper and Thomas Poole.
He is survived by his loving children, Deborah Carlisle (Mat), Tom Poole (Pauline), Suzanne Estrada (Manny), Michael Poole, Karen Poole, Sharon Mahne, Steven Poole (Mary Francis), Mary Poole, and Judy Poole; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Glynn (Peggy) Poole and Lynn Cerami (John), in addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends. Thomas was predeceased by his adoring wife Bernadette Vedros Poole, daughter Jennifer Biggs, his parents, his siblings Maridel Glancey and Paricia Spurlock, his beloved grandson MIchael Thomas Estrada and son-in-law Mike Mahne.
A native of Algiers, and proud resident of Metairie/New Orleans for over 60 years and Geismar for over 20 years, Thomas graduated from Jesuit High School in New Orleans, LA, in 1949. After his service in the United States Airforce he attended Louisiana State University and earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Thomas' professional career began with Shell Oil Company and then proudly served at Avondale Shipyard where he successfully helped in the building of our nations military vessels.
Thomas was loving, compassionate and graciousl. His true passion was spending time with his loving wife, family and friends. Thomas was well respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His spirit and tender nature will remain in the many memories of his cherished friends and family until they meet him again.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the outstanding care provided by Hospice of Baton Rouge and Superior Home Health.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the funeral services at Mothe Funeral Home, 1300 Vallette St, Algiers, Louisiana on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 11:30 AM with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. A rosary will begin at 10:30AM followed by Words of Remembrance at 11AM. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
