Ulysses S. Grant, III, an IBM retiree of over forty years of service passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014 after complications from congestive heart failure. Mr. Grant was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Maritime service, and the Merchant Marines. After attending St. Louis University, he was hired by IBM in St. Louis February 1950 as an administrator. He held management positions in St. Louis, Little Rock, and Houston, before coming to the IBM district headquarters in New Orleans in 1967. For the next twenty-three years he served in a variety of management positions and headquarter staff assignments before his retirement in August 1990. Mr. Grant was married for fifty-two years to the late Barbara Jane O'Brien of St. Louis, who passed away from leukemia in February 2001. He is survived by their four children, Brian Grant (Karen), Victoria Grant Juneau (Kirk), Randall Grant (Monica), and Barbara Grant Heltz (Scott). Grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of three. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend a graveside service to be held at a later date at the U.S. Military Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, MO.
