Una Spurway Bauer, a retired school teacher, was born April 6, 1922 in Algiers, LA to the late Thelma Hoffman Spurway and Joseph H. Spurway. For sixty years she was the wife of the late Frederick H. Bauer and preceded in death by a daughter Suzanne M. Bauer and her sisters Joyce S. Rooney and Mae S. Bauer. She is survived by her four daughters Ann B. Roth (Robert), Nancy B. Becnel (Paul), Bonnie B. Bannerman (Moss), and Judy B. Lee (Harry) and eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was devoted to her loving God, the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Anne. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters Court #2165, a parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle Church, and resident of Our Lady of Wisdom. For thirty years, she enthusiastically taught the students of St. Julien Eymard, Martin Behrman High School and O Perry Walker High School. Upon her retirement, she shared her gifts with the students of Christ the King Parish School. She published a book about Algiers titled With No Regrets. Living that motto, she enjoyed traveling, writing, shopping, producing plays and spending time with her family. She tirelessly devoted her love and time to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and provided many holiday and vacation memories. She cherished her many friends at Our Lady of Wisdom and greatly appreciated the care and concern of her nurses, aides and staff at Our Lady of Wisdom. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 2:30 PM at Our Lady of Wisdom Chapel, 5600 General DeGaulle Dr. Algiers, LA. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 PM until 2:30 PM. Interment in McDonoghville Cemetery, Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Our Lady of Wisdom Chapel Fund.
