Urban "Kotch" Treuil Sr (1924-2014) Belle Chasse, LA – A celebration of life will be held for Urban Treuil Sr, at 11am Saturday September 6, 2014 at Mothe Funeral Home – 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA with Rev Eric Treuil officiating. Friends and family are invited for visitation beginning that morning at 9am until service time. Interment will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery in Belle Chasse, LA. He began his race June 22, 1924 and completed it Saturday evening August 30, 2014 at the age of 90. A native and life long resident of Belle Chasse, LA and a Veteran of the US Navy serving in the South Pacific during WWII as a part of what was referred to as “MacArthur’s Navy”. He retired after 30 years as a Supervisor with the Belle Chasse Waterworks. “Kotch”, as he was known by family and friends, loved gardening and raising animals as well as a passion for cooking gumbo and making hogs head cheese! He is survived by his children and spouses: Winnie Leger (David) of Belle Chasse, LA; Urban Treuil Jr (Tina) of Braithwaite, LA; Vance Treuil (Nicole) of Meridian, MS; Eric Treuil (Anabelle) of Lafayette, LA; and Dana Durr (Donald) of Belle Chasse, LA. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years June Leibouvitz Treuil and his parents Louis Treuil and Winnie Adams Treuil. He is the brother of the late Alma Rogers, Carrie Lou Collins, Mary Lavasseur, and Louis Treuil Jr. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Leger, Jared Leger, Joshua Treuil, Benjamin Treuil, Travis Durr, and Dylan Durr.
