Urbin P. Rivet (also known as “Junior”), left this early life on April 11, 2024 with his wife and family members praying for him.
Urbin was a dedicated Christian and assisted his church minister, Father Anthony Serio at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Westwego, LA for many years. He and his wife facilitated the travel and Rosary of Our Lady of Fatima to homes in the Church parish for an extended period of time. He never waivered from his strong Church and Christian beliefs.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rita DeShazo Rivet, whom he adored. The bright lights of his world, his daughter Paula Saling (husband Steven); his son Brian (wife Stephanie) and several nieces and nephews. He was absolutely adored by his canine companion, Angel.
He loved visiting friends and relatives and celebrating at Disneyworld with his wife and children.
He is preceded in death by his father, Urbin Paul Rivet Sr. and mother, Conjetta Domilise Rivet; sisters, June Borgstede, Catherine Winstine and brother-in-law, Harold DeShazo Jr.
He grew up in the uptown area of New Orleans and near family throughout his younger years. He especially loved po-boys and food at Domilise’s Restaurant in the neighborhood.
The family recognizes Dr. Scott Acosta, Dr. Sanjay Dravid, hospice nurse and niece, Nicole Stein, nurse and niece, Wendy Reaux for the care, concern, and compassion for Urbin and his family during his illness and transition to eternal life.
His wife Rita also wishes to express her appreciation for the love and support of her siblings: Vivian Ours, Linda Barrios, Lucille Stipe, Debbie Lynchard, Darlene Norris, and Jules DeShazo.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Boulevard, Marrero, LA on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 6pm to 10pm, resuming on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 8am to 11am. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment All Saints Mausoleum of Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans.
