Ursin Lawrence Acosta age 74 departed this life and entered his eternal resting place on Wednesday October 15 th 2014. Beloved son of the late Lawrence Euthorpe and Marguerite Tierney Acosta. Preceded in death by his sister Barbara Acosta and brother Ronnie Acosta(Donna) and great grandson Samuel Lawrence Whitmer. Husband of Joy Sanchez Acosta for the past 53 years. Beloved father of Lisa Palisi(Vincent), Larry Acosta(Darnell), Laurie Frederick (Jeff) and Lonnie Acosta. Grandfather of Jessica Frederick Alexie( Nick), Lyndsey Acosta Whitmer(Barry), Joshua Frederick, Derek Acosta, Amanda and Vincent Palisi Jr., Brennen Acosta and great grandfather of Jaidyn Alexie and Caroline Whitmer, beloved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Native of Algiers and resident of Gretna LA and Parishioner of St. Cletus Church for 49 years. Retired from New Orleans Police Department after 18 years, and recently retired from the Jefferson Parish Sheriffs Office after 30 years. Members of the N.O. Police Dept. PMBA, Fraternal Order of Police, Jefferson Lodge 12, Lucky 13 Social Club and Ochsner Golden Opportunities. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to all who knew him. Relatives, friends, employees of New Orleans Police Dept, JPSO, members of the PMBA. FOP Lodge 12 , Ochsner Golden Opportunities, and Lucky 13 social club are invited to attend a funeral mass in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy, Harvey, LA on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 11am. Interment St. Joseph Abbey, St. Benedict, LA. Parlors will be open Saturday morning from 8:30am until 11am. Thanks for all the loving care of the entire Oncology Staff, Eighth Floor at West Jefferson Medical Center, and Delta Home Health. Special thanks to Doctors Kesler, Patel and Staff of the Chemo Therapy Cancer Center, Dr, Gould and Staff of Cyber-Knife Radiation Center, Dr. Deepthi Murthy, Infectious Disease, Dr. Brian Cain, Dr Palit and all doctors who gave everything they could to cure him of his cancers and health problems.
