VIOLA JUANITA "NITA" MILLER SUMMERS
January 13. 1930 - May 18. 2012
Viola Juanita "Nita" Miller Summers departed peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday May 18, 2012 at age 82. What a blessing she has been to all of us. Beloved wife of the late Andrew J. "Billy" Summers, Jr. She was the precious and loving mother of 8 children including the late Emanuel "Rickey", Viola (Sheldon), Deborah (Andre), Andrew III, Lois (Donnie), Janice (Robert), Eunice Grace, and Maxine (the late Cliff). She is also survived by her devoted pet Chihuahua "Michael". Viola was born and raised in Plaquemines Parish and lived a small town called Ironton. She was also a resident of Algiers. She is the daughter of the late Lawrence and Pauline Miller Sr. She is sister to Velma H. Davis (James) and was preceded in death by ten siblings: Leona, Gladys, Willie, Espy, Lawrence Jr., Alvin, Ulysses, Eddie, Marian and Beatrice. Viola leaves to mourn her 13 grandchildren: Michele "Shelly", Angie, Dwight Jr., Tyrone, Rachelle, Chantelle, Robert III, Kalicia, Maximilian "Max", Johann-Paul "Hans", Emanuel Jr. "Rickey", Malikah, and Denise. Also left to mourn are her devoted and loving sisters-in law, Eva Flowers and Emma Johnson of Wisconsin and niece Kurston "Kurt" Francois and lifelong friend/son Albert Nana Osei (Germany) as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Viola was a quiet, calm and compassionate soul who loved the Lord with all of her heart. She was devoted and dedicated to her children and grandchildren. She was baptized into the Catholic faith at All Saints Catholic Church. She was educated and raised in Plaquemines Parish. Viola was a homemaker and devoted her life and compassion to caring for her late husband Andrew J. Summers, Jr., her daughter Eunice Grace and her other children. She was a giving and sacrificing soul who saw goodness in everyone she encountered. She especially loved helping people everywhere by donating to charities such St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, Veterans Organization, and African and many other Natural Disaster Relief Funds all over the world. God truly blessed Viola "Nita" with a kind, generous and sacrificing heart and spirit.
Priests, parishioners, relatives and friends of All Saints Catholic Church, (Algiers), St. Joseph Catholic Church (Gretna), Asbury United Methodist Church, White Dove Church, along with employees of TECO (Davant, LA), Kindred Hospital, Breaux Mart, Metropolitan Developmental Center, Kraft Group Home, Woodland-West Elementary, Gardner Realtor, West Jefferson Fitness Center (Oakwood) and all other businesses and organizations affiliated with the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, May 26, 2012 at All Saints Catholic Church - 1441 Teche St. Algiers at 10:00 AM, Officiant Rev. Victor Cohea for Rev. Michael K. Saah-Buckman. Visitation on Saturday at All Saints Church from 8AM - 10AM. Interment at McDonogh Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Repast following interment at Pzazz Reception Hall, 1784 Pace Blvd. Algiers, LA ph.368.2168.

The entire Summers and Miller family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers, help and support during this most difficult time in our lives.
