Vivian Lee Wommack

December 2, 1942 — December 5, 2011

Vivian Lee Wommack, beloved daughter, wife, mother, and painter departed this life suddenly on December 5, 2011 at the age of 69 from a heart attack. She was a native of the Carolinas but lived many years in New Orleans, Louisiana. She earned a B.S. in Biology from the University of North Carolina; a Masters in Zoology from Clemson; and a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of South Carolina. She had a long career as a medical technologist for the Dorn's Veteran's Administration in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Mary Edna Cathey and Albert M. Cathey of Easley, S.C. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Spencer T. Wommack, III; her two children and their spouses, Sarah Suzanne Mahoney and her husband Marshall Mahoney, and Spencer T. Wommack, IV and his wife Laurel Lawson Wommack; and her six grandchildren, Sean R. Mahoney; Sandra L. Wommack; Suzannah Vivian Mahoney; Spencer T. Wommack V; Sarah Cathey Wommack; and Julia M. Wommack; her sister Sarah Ann Cano; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was most beloved. Everything about Vivian was beautiful. She was passionate about her art and she attended many sessions of eight-week immersion concentrations as well as shorter classes at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains. She will be dearly missed by her family and all of her friends and teachers who lived creative lives. But she has simply gone ahead of us and will wait for us in eternity. She will be interred at the Savage Family Cemetary in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Belle Chasse at 8828 Belle Chasse Highway 23; Belle Chasse, LA 70037 or to the Penland School of Arts and Crafts; P.O. Box 37; Penland, N.C. 28765-0037.
