Walter J. Greaux passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the age of 94. Beloved husband of the late Ovilia Theriot Greaux for 65 years. Son of the late Frank Greaux and Amy Becnel Greaux. Loving father of Lamerlis Greaux, Walter E. Greaux (Elizabeth) and Mark Greaux. Grandfather of Amy Riggenbach, Jaime Stembridge, Jade Staley, Mark Esbrook and Bethany Greathouse. Walter is also survived by 11 great grandchildren. Brother of the late Margaret Friskney and Emily Spencer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Laurie Dupre, Carrie Abadie, Deborah Smith and the staff of Canon Hospice for their love and care. Walter was a lifelong resident of Algiers, LA. He served his country in the South Pacific during World War II while enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He was faithful member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3121, Gretna, LA for 72 years. He received a Proclamation Award from Honorable E. Teena Anderson, 2nd District for his 94th birthday, which was May 30, 2016. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 400 Verret Street, Algiers, LA on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 9AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church on Tuesday at 11AM. Interment will be in St. Bartholomew Cemetery, Algiers, LA. Immediately following the burial, a repass will take place at the VFW Hall, 475 Monroe Street, Gretna, LA at 1PM. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
