Wilborn "Smitty" Smith

Wilborn "Smitty" Smith was born on September 20, 1939 and died on September 30, 2012 at the age of 73 years. He was born in Oakgrove, LA but was a resident of Belle Chasse, LA for the last 43 years. Beloved husband of 54 years to Lovie McPherson Smith. He is preceded in death by his mother Ella Marie Harrison Smith, his father Felix Smith and his brother Kenneth L. Smith. Loving father of Gary Mitchell Smith (Darnell) and Theresa Smith Ferguson (the late Kevin). Grandfather to Julie (Rollin) and Daniel Smith, Kasi and Dillon Ferguson. Great-grandfather to Jasi Johnson and Dillon Ferguson Jr. Brother of Felix Mitchell Smith (Wilma Dell), Phillip Gary Smith (Cynthia Diane) and Phyllis Ann Smith Smith (Holmes H.). He will be missed by many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. He retired from Barriere Construction where he worked for 25 years. The family extends their gratitude and a special “Thank You” to all the doctors, nurses and staff of Ochsner Hospital, Eastbank and Westbank Campuses and to Dialysis Clinic, Inc. (Behrman Hwy) for the compassion and care received.
