Wilfred Albert Richardson III, affectionately known as "Dukes," passed away peacefully at his residence on October 16, 2024, at the age of 94. Born on March 2, 1930, he was a man of dedication, passion, and deep love for his family and community.
Dukes enjoyed a remarkable career spanning over five decades, retiring 25 years of service at the Continental Can Company in Harvey, Louisiana. He then dedicated another 25 years to the Jefferson Parish 24th Judicial Court, where he served honorably as a police officer with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. His commitment to public service was evident in every aspect of his work, and he leaves behind colleagues and friends who undoubtedly remember him for his steadfast character and diligence.
A proud veteran, Wilfred served in the U.S. Army during the WWII Japanese Occupation as a Military Police Officer. His military service was a significant aspect of his life, contributing to the values of integrity and duty that guided him throughout his career.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dukes was known for his lifelong passion for collecting antiquities, art, and military history. His keen interest in these fields not only enriched his own life but also became a source of joy and inspiration for those around him.
Wilfred is remembered fondly by his loving wife, Beverly Ann Albert Richardson, with whom he shared 71 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a family, welcoming their daughter Robin Tesvich, who, alongside her husband Luke, cherishes the memories and legacy of her father.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred A. Richardson Jr. and Margaret Seminari Richardson, as well as his siblings, Delores, Mildred Gomes, Harold, John, Ethel Busby, and Sr. Mary Teresita. Their absence is felt dearly, yet his memory will live on through the stories and lessons he imparted.
Wilfred Albert Richardson III will be profoundly missed by many whose lives he touched with his kindness, wit, and determination. Family and friends are invited to honor his life during a Memorial Gathering on November 9, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at Marrero - Mothe Funeral Homes, LLC, located at 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, LA 70072.
