William S. Lee, entrepreneur, inventor, musician, and animal lover died Friday, August 9, 2013 at the age of 86 years. Mr. Lee worked for New Orleans Public Service from 1949 to 1960. He founded Lee Moving and Storage in 1954, became an inventor in the 60’s and founded Lee Inventions, Inc. in 1975. Lee Inventions manufactures labor saving dollies and stair crawlers for the moving industries. He was born in Memphis, TN on December 19, 1926, graduated from Pearl River High School in Poplarville, MS and served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He became a fervent anti-communist since learning about communism in his mid teens. Mr. Lee was a member of The Last Straws, a popular New Orleans Dixieland Jazz Band in which he played clarinet and alto sax. He was a devoted and generous supporter of animal well being. Survivors include his wife Nancy, brother Robert Lee, son Douglas, daughters Jahn Collins and Sheree Yoder, stepchildren Carol Coscia, Karen Weiden and John Quinn, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Son of the late Mattie Evelyn Rabb and William S. Lee. Brother of the late Philip Williams and step father of the late Kenneth Lee.
