William Ned Rogers

January 20, 1942 — October 13, 2022

William Ned Rogers passed away on October 13, 2022, at the age of 80 years. Beloved husband of 56 years to Lou Ellen Tyler Rogers. Father of Steven Michael Rogers (Shelly) and Kimberly Rogers Enger (Leonard). Grandfather of Dylan Rogers, Lucy Enger, and Liam Enger. Uncle of Ned Rich (Cheryl) and Robbie Singleton (Jennifer). Brother of the late Donice Anderson (the late James), Charles Rogers (Myrtle), and Alice Diane Rich (Curtis). Son of the late Ned Pritchett Rogers and Ethel Edith Rogers. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends survive him. Billy outlived most of his friends and he always had a soft spot in his heart for the children of those friends, including George and Pete Rudolph and Greg and Gil Griffin. Billy knew the importance of working hard and taking care of family. He kept his circle of friends small, but his love for those friends was immeasurable. If you were lucky enough to be his friend, you knew he could be both a difficult person and the friend that you could count in your time of need.

Billy took great joy in spending time with his three grandchildren, his favorite granddaughter Lucy and his grandsons Dylan and Liam. He loved to brag about their accomplishments and enjoyed all of the special perks of being their PawPaw, from birthday dinners and school celebrations to making them PawPaw’s special breakfast buffet.

His greatest accomplishment though was his 56-year marriage to Lou Ellen. They took their vows of, in sickness and in health seriously, right until the end when he passed away holding her hand. In happier times one of his favorite things to do was sit in his crimson red recliner on a Saturday, with Lou Ellen close by and his puppy Parker laying at his feet and watch Alabama football beat down on their opponents, all the while texting and calling with his favorite nephews, Ned and Robbie.

Billy served his country in the U.S. Navy and later joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union and worked for Gulf Best Electric. He was a past member of Marrero Lodge No. 479 F & AM. The family would like to thank the many nurses, nurse assistants and doctors who cared for Billy at West Jefferson Medical Center over the past few weeks. The kindness you showed to him and to us has given us great comfort.

Visitation will be held at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 11am to 1:30pm. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel followed by military honors.

Family and friends are encouraged to share their condolences, stories and memories of Billy by visiting: www.mothefunerals.com . In closing, we’ll leave you with Billy’s favorite saying, “ROLL TIDE”!
