William Christian Thalheim

William Christian Thalheim, of Gretna, LA, beloved son of Myra Ziifle Thalheim and the late Richard Andrew Thalheim, of Gretna, LA, departed this life on November 16, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Age 56. Survived by his mother, his sister, Margaret Louise Thalheim Cuccia(Mrs.Richard) and brother-in-law Richard A. Cuccia, his brothers Richard Andrew Thalheim, Jr.(husband of Jeannie) and sister-in-law Mrs. Carolyn “Jeannie” Hillman Thalheim, his brother Mark Andrew Thalheim, his aunts, Ruth Claire Ziifle and Carolyn Thalheim McCall, his nephew Michael R. A. Thalheim, and his niece Meredith Victoria June Thalheim.
He was predeceased by his father, Richard Andrew Thalheim and his grandparents, Andrew Henry Thalheim, Salome Fried Thalheim, William Christian Ziifle and Leonora Giboney Ziifle, all of Gretna, LA.
He was a graduate of Tulane University where he was a member of the Psi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order. In addition, he graduated from Marion Military Institute in Marion, AL and attended Isidore Newman School and Trinity Episcopal School. He was a lifelong member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Gretna, LA. He was a member of New Orleans Geological Society.
An independent professional consulting geologist, formerly associated with Cobena & Associates, he also worked at Harrah’s New Orleans Casino.
Funeral service will be at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4th and Amelia Streets in Gretna, LA on Monday November 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM with preceding visitation at the church from 9:00AM until 11:00AM. Interment will be at Hook and Ladder Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
Relatives, friends, and co-workers of the deceased are invited to attend the visitation and religious services. Contributions to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church are preferred.
